About {Khapre.org} - The Effort of Transliteration.
Our websites were started with only one objective in mind to enable our visitors with rich religious, literary content in their very own language. Internet has the most powerful reach to deliver the ideas, so we chose it. It used to be very difficult to display the Indic languages on a website. It required knowledge of roman scriptures of indic languages like iTrans, special fonts, large images etc. We are committed to display text in its own format at every visit to our website without any “Font-Problem” links, and so we use all Unicode.

Transliteration
trans·lit·er·ate (trăns-lĭt'ə-rāt', trănz-)
tr.v., -at·ed, -at·ing, -ates.
To represent (letters or words) in the corresponding characters of another alphabet.
[TRANS– + Latin littera, lītera, letter + –ATE1.]

Believe us, transliteration is not easy.
  • Every literature has enough variations available to confuse us.
  • We are associated with some literature professors in India, to guide us.
  • We had to establish a deep understanding with the oldest and largest libraries in India to get the original versions of these texts.
  • Our associates transliterate those texts in Unicode format.
  • The text is carefully reviewed by our proof readers in at least two cycles.
  • The corrected text is uploaded in appropriate places on our websites.
  • Once published, visitors are our main proof readers. Their comments are taken very seriously and evaluated for appropriate corrections for texts.

The "?" section - Here are some common questions and their answers

Why are we transliterating?
We know the importance of Religious texts when you need them. We faced the same problems when we needed them. This is an effort to make you get those when you need them. We do not expect anything in return. If you like our work feel free to send us an email at mailto:msuggest_@_khapre.org (remove underscores from address), tell us what you feel.

Why cant I see the text here?
To enjoy browsing here, all you need is a unicode enabled browser software on your machine. NO FONTS, NO ADWARE, NO THIRD PARTY TOOLS not even Adobe Reader. Still if you can't see the text properly, here is help.

I need something, but I cant find it or is it not there?
Use the "SEARCH" button available on every page or on home page of our website to search for something you are looking for. Even you can use google to search our website. Still if you cannot find what you are looking for please contact us at suggest_@_khapre.org (remove underscores from address), we can definitely get the text within few days. Provide us the specifics about the text you are specially looking for. We will be glad to provide you with that.

Do we have copyrights for everything on this website?
We are NOT required to have copyrights for the texts that are in Public Domain. Please carefully read "TERMS OF SERVICE" at the bottom of every page. Some of the texts, layouts, services, images from {Khapre.org} are copyrighted. Please feel free to contact us in case you need some more clarifications at legal_@_khapre.org (remove underscores from address).

Why cant I select anything on your website?

The website contents are derived from documets in public domain. Once encoded/transliterated, they can be copied and displayed anywhere. This website is only for those who want to use it for their own usage. This feature is to stop sprouting publications from "copy-paste" amateurs. If you need to copy the text and put it on your website please contact us at suggest_@_khapre.org (remove underscores from address), we can definitely allow you to do so. Only condition is, you need to provide a reference to us and change your website when our texts change.

How I do save the text on my computer?

Actually, we suggest not to save text on your computer. If you need to, please use PRINT button available on each content page. Print them for your later reference. If you need to save. Use your browsers "save as button".
If using Internet Explorer, save as "Web Archive, Single file (*.mht)"
If using Firefox, save as "Web page, complete"

Are the advertisements necessary on your pages?

Yes, they are necessary for us. We tried to advertise not to interfere with your elegent browsing experience. We do not place any pop-up advertisements.

Are we transliterating everything? Do we copy that from some other websites?

Yes, we do transliterate almost everything and we also take stuff from other website whenever it is available. There are a lot of websites who host very similar content. But we found that either they host the content that is not verified or they have transliteration errors. So we take that content whenever appropriate, check with original text that we find in our libraries. Correct the errors and follow the procedure described above.
